I am hoping to get a nice colorful carpet for my classroom. This will help make our classroom a more comfortable and inviting place for students to learn. Our school is very old and in great need of repair but money is scarce here in the public schools in Hawaii. We have an old laminate floor and no carpet. I would love to have a nice, comfortable place for my students to sit when we come together to meet as a class or work in small groups. I chose a carpet with an ocean theme to help them feel at home and to go along with our 4th grade Hawaiian History curriculum.
By donating to this project you will help improve the learning environment for these deserving students! I am also looking for ways to reinforce reading skills and raise test scores. I chose a wonderful kit that has reading activities and stories to help the students practice comprehension and learn new vocabulary. I feel this is vital for our students at this school. With 24 in my class this fall I will need these types of activities that the students can do independently while I work with small groups. This donation will immediately be put to work improving the reading skills for these children to help them be successful in school.
