I want to offer my incoming kindergarten students an alternative to morning work as they await the start of the school day. Morning Tubs filled with manipulatives offer a play-based opportunity for students to explore, create, and communicate with each other. They are non-threatening, get students excited to enter the classroom, and encourage collaboration. We need two manipulative libraries, Magna-Tiles, Magnet Builders and other hands-on materials for our Morning Tubs. As a mother of an anxious child, I understand how school can be overwhelming. With the pressure students face to perform well on standardized tests and master rigorous standards, unstructured play and social interactions have been in decline. The materials provided will my allow students to start their day off right and learn through meaningful "play!"
