Research shows that students who listen to audiobooks build their literacy skills while improving their comprehension, increase their vocabulary and syntax understanding, and most importantly increase their interest for reading. My goal is to build a listening center for my students so that they will be exposed to a variety of diverse and enriching genres of books. It is my hope that by providing listening center materials my students will expand their comprehension of literacy while developing their love for reading. Ever child deserves to learn in a literacy rich environment where they can learn not only reading but listening, speaking, and writing skills no mater their social or economic background. The majority of my class doesn't have the privileged of listening to books being read to them other than in the classroom. My goal is to provide my students with a listening center that will increase their love for reading while taking ownership of their own learning.
