I am a science teacher at a small, Title I High School in East Harlem, NY. The majority of my students are of color but come from a variety of cultures, interests and life experiences. In my classes, students learn scientific concepts through a variety of relevant, engaging and hands-on experiences. About 30% of my students are classified as having learning deficits and about 7% are English Language Learners. A portion of my classes are co-taught to help meet the various academic and social needs of my students. Students in my class are required to pass the NYS Living Environment Regents exam at the end of the course.
