My classroom is a welcoming, non-judging environment for all students on our alternative high school campus. My students have a diverse set of needs: most struggle with the challenges of living in poverty, some are overcoming drug addiction, some are teen parents, some have language barriers, but all have high academic and social needs. I focus on meeting each student where they are and helping them identify and meet their academic and social-emotional goals. I regularly teach civics, psychology, and independent study courses (which are intended to help students make up missed credits). My class is always full of students whether I'm teaching or not though because all our students know I'm here for them anytime!
