A listening center will allow my second graders to listen to a variety of books in small groups. It will foster a love of reading that will help each student be successful. The CD player and headphones will help my students listen to leveled texts in small groups. These small groups allow for more individualized attention and instruction. My students will be participating in these meaningful activities while I am meeting with groups. I believe that having a listening center will greatly benefit my students and improve their reading abilities. A listening center will give my students the chance to have a fluent model read to them while reading along with their own books. It gives my students the opportunity to listen to fluent readers and learn independent skills.
