Pre-Kindergarten students in urban areas oftentime enter school unprepared or underexposed to emerging literacy and struggle through the first year of school. The first year of school can be challenging, but with the right tools and the right assistance from building quality relationships between school and home, parents and students can be given tools that help foster a positive year and great progress which leads to student success. In the first year of Pre-Kindergarten, students will have exposure to literacy through our classroom library to meet the challenges of our "100 Book Challenge". The 100 Book Challenge helps increase the bond between parents, the school and the student through the classroom library, encouragement from the student to meet the challenge and win awards throughout the year through different incentives, and increases vocabulary and exposes students to real life situations through the reading of different topics and from different genres. These new books will be read for our 100 Book Challenge.
