My students are intelligent, creative, inventive, silly and spontaneous. As a young teacher in a junior high setting, I do everything I can to reach my students at their level. I try to understand what relates to them, what they like, and their struggles. While also teaching in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are often faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I want to give my students a learning environment where they feel safe and can create meaningful relationships with their peers as well as meaningful learning experiences. My students love to move, love to be comfortable, and love to feel positive. When they walk in my classroom, I want them to feel comfortable and safe to be who they are. I want my students to be able to grow in their learning and find their true potential.
