Next school year, I will become the inclusion teacher in my grade level. While I have been in this assignment before, next year I am getting a student with Angelman Syndrome. This student needs lots of flexible space to be able to interact with her environment and other students. Our district is currently building a K-12 facility that will open in 2 years. This means a couple of things for this project. First of all, our district isn't willing to make any large purchases at this point, as we will be moving in a couple of years. Second, we are moving toward educating students in a more flexible, collaborative way. The desk/chairs I currently have are attached, which will not be appropriate for the student mentioned above. These desks also do not foster collaboration and project-based learning.T Therefore, the tables and moveable/flexible seats that we are requesting for will meet both of these concerns.
