When children are given choices they feel and become part of the learning process. Choosing what materials they will like to use motivates students and helps diminish or remove the fear they have when presented with new material. The Phonemic Awareness Instant Learning Centers have easy instructions and have everything my students need to build phonemic awareness. It allows them to work independently and at their own pace. The Leveled Sight Word Cards helps students learn sight words by engaging them with different activities. Students fear making mistakes, but I teach my students that making mistakes is an essential part of learning. These kits and the Write and Wipe pockets reinforces children's thinking that its o.k. to make a mistake. The timer is essential to learning time management and the warning lights are wonderful reminders. Teaching my students time management will help reduce anxiety for upcoming district and state assessments.
