Creating a classroom from scratch is a bit of a struggle. Going into my room for the first time yesterday and dropping off what I already had while also envisioning the endless possibilities were both exciting and daunting. I have decided on the theme "Adventure Awaits" for my third grade classroom. I know third grade is a time of high stress for students as it is their first year testing, proving that it is an academically rigorous time. Therefore, my first goal is to to create a safe place where my students feel comfortable meeting together. This safe place's foundation would start with a rug that ties to the theme of my classroom. We would use this special continental rug not only for read alouds but also morning meeting and periods of collaborative discovery and learning.
