Our classroom will be my students' learning home for the next 9 months. My goal is to create a learning home that inspires, relaxes, is safe, and is multi-functioning. Flexible seating will allow my 4th graders the space they need to move about, learn cooperatively, and learn individually in the way that best suits them. Students will be able to choose from several different seating options. They may choose to work with me or other peers at the kidney table, while sitting on a stability ball or stool. They may feel the need to stretch those legs and stand, while working at a standing desk. They may choose to work individually or collaboratively on a stability ball, stool, or traditional desk chair. They may even choose to kneel, or sit close to the floor using the kneeling pads. Stadium seats will allow them to sit anywhere in the class and allow them to quickly navigate to other areas of the classroom to work.
