These materials will make a difference because students will be able to use a device to interact with their learning. They see an immediate red or green response and volume can be on or off. I purchased one of these to use with a student, and he has been so engaged when he gets to use his pen. He knows he made an error when it turns red and we get to discuss it together and practice it. When it is green, he gets an immediate celebration. For students who are already struggling, completing paper work gets boring and feels like no progress is being made. The colors really help engage and motivate. In addition to this. I was working with a student using one box of these, and I was quickly able to identify where his reading problem was. He didn't even realize that he was being assessed in the process. I was able to record how many errors were made in different areas to determine where he is at. This is a great, versatile tool to use with everyday curriculum. It can be used when a student needs a break from paper work or as a practice activity while assessing students individually in the group.
