Multiple times throughout the day, we meet together on the carpet to learn. Students hear a focused lesson in reading, writing, math, or social emotional skills before we break into small groups or independent learning. I'm requesting a Kid Carpet Blocks Seating Rug for our classroom. Having a warm, inviting space to learn together will make our classroom feel more like a home and allow students to focus and do their best. When we meet together on the carpet, students may learn how to use a new reading strategy in a text or how to edit their writing. In math, small groups meet with the teacher on the carpet to practice with hands-on manipulatives and whiteboards. We also gather on the carpet to have class meetings to set a positive tone for our classroom and to make it a safe and secure place to spend our school days. Our carpet area is our home base where our school family grows and bonds through learning and other activities!
