As a first year teacher, getting ahold of the materials you really want doesn't always happen. I would love to have a space in my classroom where all students can fit on one rug for whole group lessons. Having everyone in one place can help create the community I strive to have in my classroom. I look forward to gathering on the rug and reading stories, having class meetings and discussions, and seeing students bloom. This rug would also double as a space where students can read or work throughout the day. Rugs help create a comfy and calming environment in the classroom where students feel safe.
