I am implementing the Daily 5 idea about reading instruction in my classroom. This allows and encourages my students to be independent learners and make decisions for themselves on how they best learn. Because of this, I would like to dive into flexible seating in my classroom so students have more options to make these decisions. We currently have a traditional desk and chair arrangement. I'm requesting Active Chairs, Comfy Floor Seats, and Soft Seats to give my students flexible seating choices. I want my students to feel confident in making personal learning choices. This will help their critical thinking skills and give them more ownership over their behavior in the classroom as well. Finally, as students feel more comfortable and confident, they will be more encouraged to read and develop a love of reading. I am hoping to have all my students reach the forty book challenge next year!
