One area of concern I have for my students is the lack of flexible seating options for them to maximize their learning. Students need to be empowered through the power of choice. By offering multiple seating options such as beanbag seats, floor seats, and balance ball seats, my students will not only feel comfortable and motivated, but they will also learn to be self-disciplined in choosing options that help them become an active participant in their learning. I already have a couple of tables in my room that have the ability to be lowered. The flexible seating options I am requesting will pull up nicely to those tables offering students a nontraditional seating option. The balance ball seats will also provide optional seating at our regular tables for students who need to move around while they learn.
