As coordinator of student activities, I snap pictures and take video all the time, especially during field trips and special events. At the end of the year I take these images into a quick editing software program, (I use iMovie, Windows Movie Maker) and burn a DVD for each student. They are a cherished present for the graduating seniors to make these memories last forever. I am asking for three cameras so students can learn to take photographs. These requested digital cameras can engage students who don’t always respond to written materials; they can be used to reinforce what's taught in the classroom by interacting with it through school activities. Students who are considered as visual learners also benefit by having access to these cameras because it allows them to develop their skills. They will have the opportunity to explore and share their own environment and culture, as well as with other cultures. Furthermore, having these cameras available also improve the opportunity to increase parental involvement. How? With our newspaper. Parents are able to read about their children's accomplishments at school and are also aware of how the school builds a community through the events we organize. The students connect with each other and the world around them in so many different ways, while inviting their families inside our school.
