Imagine walking into a brick doorway that says 9 and 3/4 and wondering what you will be learning in this classroom. I can see my room set up now and the look on my student's faces as they step into a magical world of wizardry. As the students gaze around the room and spot many exciting items they will become intrigued. Keys with wings will be dangling above them. There will be a three headed dog protecting the supply closet and a snowy owl perched above the teacher's desk. The bookshelf will house three characters from the books and feathery quill. The walls will have banners and a map hanging from them. A broom and sorting hat will be on display for the students to see. Many fun items will keep the students interested and involved in our classroom community. My hope is that by filling our classroom with items that represent the Harry Potter books the students will want to extend themselves to learn more about each one. What better way to find out than by reading the books that are shown around the room on giant posters. My students will want to learn about the magical world of Harry Potter and in doing so will create a passion for reading that will carry over beyond their school years. As they step into our classroom each day they will enter a safe environment that nurtures their growing and learning needs exponentially.
