Currently, my students have an extremely limited amount of time available to use the self-paced interactive software portion of our reading curriculum because they need to share the computers that are available to them. As you might imagine, after the time it takes to log in to the program, set up headphones and microphones, the available 20 minutes starts to look a lot more like only 15 minutes of active interaction with the software. The software portion of our reading curriculum is powerful as it focuses instruction precisely where the student needs it. In my experience, the more time students can spend on this software, the more progress they make in their reading abilities. By donating to our project, you will not only help to increase the amount of time students can spend learning, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement. Plus in this technology literate world, any interaction with updated technology will increase their literacy as well as their desire to learn and use the new technology!
