We believe that it is critical to help children be ready for Kindergarten by engaging them in activities that will develop their language and early reading skills. In a world that is driven by technology and to spark children's interest, they need different materials to enhance their play. Our plan is to make our reading area an exciting place to learn. Adding books that are culturally diverse, helps children recognize and accept differences. Children enjoy acting out story books in a meaningful way. Felt boards and the use of puppets provide everyone in the group an opportunity to actively engage in the story. It also fosters creativity and allows the children explore cooperative play. The iPads will allow the children to read stories and scaffold their experience by researching various topics within the story and by broadening the topic by using the web. They're not only learning to use technology, but are able to increase their language and reading skills.
