I teach six and seven-year-old wiggleworms in my classroom. To have to ask these young students to sit still in a chair at a desk all day is hard. I find it hard as an adult to sit still for long periods of time especially when uncomfortable. The idea of flexible seating is a new development in education which allows the children to get up and move around as well as choose a seat where they want. We will be transforming the classroom into a flexible environment to meet the needs of different learning styles. We will be using tables instead of desks which will have a variety of seating choices like exercise balls, stools, and crates with cushions. The students will also be given the chance to sit on the floor on comfortable cushions. With your donations you can help students make their own seating choices in the classroom and begin to eliminate behavior problems from students getting restless.
