Organization, routine, structure, social skills, free choice are all apart of the Autistic Support curriculum. These material will allow me to provide students with an atmosphere that is calming and welcoming to all students and support staff. Organization is key for both students and staff, so that access to materials is easily available. The materials on my list will allow me to sort and separate learning materials for individual students. The décor will give my classroom a certain feel of warmth and caring when they enter the room. These are so important for students who need help interpreting the world around them. The items that I have included in this project will allow me to organize supplies, independent task items, and IEP goal items. I will use the boxes, creates, and command hooks to separate materials, so much of my class is hands-on and not paper pencil tasks. I will use the classroom décor such as calendar, class helpers, and behavior light to help with visual scheduling and monitoring student behavior. I will use the lamps when the florescent lights of the classroom are too much for the students.
