The materials requested are math, reading (phonics), writing, and science based centers. These centers will take their learning to exploring! The complete math set helps build skills with shapes, patterning, counting, measurement, comparing numbers, making ten, adding and subtracting to 10. Pop and add to 20 game is a fun way to practice addition fluency! Unlock it number match build number recognition to unlock the lock (match number 4 to ::). Having writing materials that are colorful and interesting help promote writing in a fun way! The hands-on science specimen center has 5 different specimen that has photo cards, real specimen and a magnifier to explore each animal. Real bugs are real bugs! The students will study them with a magnifier plus have a book to help identify them! The easy clean craft trays help keep the materials in an orderly fashion and not on the floor! The complete language set helps recognize rhyming sounds, beginning sounds, story sequences, letter recognition, building words, syllable counting, building sight words, and building simple sentences. Alphabet mystery box is an exciting way to recall letters and the sounds they make. The power pens phonic quiz cards help assist in identifying short/long vowels, consonants, word families, reading readiness, blends (gl, sp) and digraphs (ch, sk). Phonics learning locks help recognize vowel sounds, blends and digraphs to unlock the lock (match letter to picture)! With the supplies purchased, I can expand our learning center materials past paper and pencil tasks. Learning centers are areas within the classroom where students learn about specific subjects by playing and engaging in activities. First graders need time to use their hands and learn! Play is an active form of learning that involves the whole self. Even cognitive development, is achieved through child initiated exploration and discovery!
