They are fantastic first graders, 90% of the class are ELL students. They come from homes where English is hardly spoken. I have very high expectations for them and they meet and exceed the bar I set. I push them and their families to achieve academic excellence. Without a solid foundation they will be behind forever. We are a Title 1 school, where the majority of the students are on free or reduced lunch. The students have many obstacles in their lives, some of which I can hardly fathom. They show up every day ready to learn. I am grateful for the opportunity to impact their lives. I couldn't imagine ever working anywhere else.
