Our students are frequently inspired by the books that we read as a group-quiet listening is usually not the skill they choose to practice during book time! Books are an interactive event in our classroom! It doesn't matter if the book is informational or a silly story, when we say "The end", the children say, "Can I take that book home to read to my family?" And, they are obviously sharing their love of our stories with their families, because it was one of our families that suggested we create a lending library so they could join in their child's excitement for reading.
