We use individual dry erase boards on a daily basis in my classroom. We use them across the curriculum in every subject daily. In math, they are used to illustrate the problem they are working on. For example, when learning 3 + 2 = 5, they would draw 3 circles and 2 squares and then count them to find the total. In phonics, they write words or draw pictures that start with the sound we are learning about that week. In writing, they practice writing their capital and lowercase letters in the beginning of the year and as the years goes on, move on to copying words and writing full sentences. During differentiated stations they do anything from write the room activities to write the word they built with dice. Individual dry erase boards are an integral part of our daily learning in kindergarten. They put the learning into the children's hands and bring it onto their level. When every student is not able to come up to the Smart Board to interact during each lesson, they can still each interact and be involved with the lesson because of their dry erase boards.
