Our school media center has recently been approved to have some major changes made. The vision is for it to be more of a learning commons that can be used by teachers and students in a more flexible way. The headphones that we currently have are outdated and very few of them work. We have been working on using the computers for listening and recording this year. All students have enjoyed using a program called Flipgrid in which they can make selfie videos to share their learning. It is important for their headphones to have microphones for projects like these. The headphones will stay in the media center and only be used with students during their class time or small group time with me.
We are fortunate enough to be getting a new iPad cart stocked with 30 brand new iPad Pros! It would be ideal to have an Apple TV in the media center as well, to mirror student and teacher iPads. Students will have ability to Skype other classrooms on an iPad, then mirror it on a large screen for all to see. We will be able to watch the news with the CNN app or the Sky News app. Student work on individual iPads will be able to get shared with an entire class or to lecture, we can now wander the library with an iPad in hand, and interact with their students.
While many of the big ticket items will be paid for by our extremely generous PTO... many of these smaller items are absolute necessities in the new space to help make it work for our students. With your help my students will have more of what they need to be successful, 21st Century learners!
