Teaching science is the best part of my day. The sense of curiosity and wonder my students bring to the classroom each day absolutely inspires me... my science supplies however, are less than inspirational. Broken thermometers, worn meter sticks, and a lack of safety goggles keep my students from being able to really dive into our material hands first. Great tools develop great scientific minds and my hope is to provide our sixth graders with the basic tools every science classroom needs such as thermometers, goggles, and pipets. We focus on energy in Earth's Systems, systems of living things, genetics, and engineering and design principles throughout the year but I believe the most important skills my students need to learn is how to be a scientist. Building our laboratory supplies is one step in that direction.
