My goal for the upcoming school year is to incorporate stations into my weekly curriculum. This will ensure an opportunity for smaller group and more individualized instruction for my English Language Learning students! Our focus is reading, writing and basic communication skills. Because it is an ESOL classroom, there are many different academic levels that exist inside the classroom. Stations will help these learners work in different groups that are divided based on similar needs. This allows the teacher to work in different areas of the classroom with different groups of students each day. To enhance students reading, writing and communication skills, stations must be done efficiently. Tables are much more realistic and comfortable as opposed to traditional desks. Tables are seen a lot at the lower school levels to help build basic academic skills. This same model will be done in the ESOL classroom. This will allow students to be grouped appropriately based on their individual strengths and needs which will ensure more academic success!
