My students are in need of flexible seating options in our classroom. Flexible seating is not only an exciting alternative for students but it also gives them the ability to self-monitor and decide what works best for their learning. The research says that some of the immediate benefits of flexible seating include burning more calories, using up excess energy, improving metabolism, increased motivation and engagement, creating a better oxygen flow to the brain, and improving core strength and overall posture. It's no surprise that physical activity is linked to higher academic performance, better health, and improved behavior. Some of the items I am requesting are wobble stools and yoga balls. These seating options allow students to move around while they sit in a way that is not distracting their learning or the learning of others around them. I am also requesting wobble cushions which will allow students to sit or stand while moving around in a less distracting way. Each of the seating options I have chosen allows students to meet their energy needs while still helping them to focus on their learning. Help give my students the opportunity to gain self-awareness skills as well as the chance to learn in a successful, alternative way!
