Too many students are being prescribed ADHD medications when alternatives are readily available. Ball chairs and chair bands actually give students with ADHD the movement their bodies crave. Once students move while attending to task, their attention is more focused and tasks are completed at a higher rate. So, in actuality, there would be no need for the more invasive medications, should the ball chairs be made available. This is a win/win situation for all involved. For the student, as medications would be eliminated, for teachers, as focus would be increased! Thank you for considering this project, as I truly believe these ball chairs being incorporated into my classroom will make a huge difference in student learning. Students who move about while others are trying to concentrate sometimes cause classroom disruptions The students will be more tolerant of each other if disruptive behaviors are curbed.
