Having a listening station will help my students, especially the struggling students, who need to develop reading fluency and comprehension. Students need to hear and see the words in a book that they otherwise may not have read. They are able to retell the story since they listened to the story. During shared reading time, I read a book from my library which sparks students’ interest in the book. Depending on the level, struggling students will pick up the book and read it over and over remembering what they heard me read. Fluency is a crucial factor in a students’ comprehension skills.
