Currently my classroom is not set up to meet the needs of my moving and choice-seeking third graders. Through flexible seating options and a supply of fidgets, I would be able to better meet the needs of my students. Flexible seating would grant my students control of their own learning. Throughout the day students would have the opportunity to choose a spot in the room where they will learn best. The stools, exercise balls, stability discs, and clipboards would be options for my students to use while they work. They will take ownership and control of their work space. Fidgets, like a fidget cubes or Tangles, would help keep my students' hands busy while learning. Students are often playing with random pieces of fuzz on the floor, or touching the person next to them. This distracts them, and others, from having all of their attention on the speaker. A fidget can be quietly, and discretely, moved in their hands so their hands stay busy and their focus remains on the speaker.
