In our classroom, we are always looking for out of the box ideas to keep students actively involved and engaged in their education. Science is a subject that can be difficult to implement into the class curriculum at this age level. This is an area we would love to strengthen with your help. A light table would be a great addition to our classroom for not only keeping our students involved and engaged but also to encourage the scientific process and their natural curiosity. A light table could also be very easily used as a cross-curriculum tool and would also allow implementation of literacy, math, music, and writing. It is such a dynamic and intriguing activity for children of all ages. With a light table, the students would be able to see the vertebrae on an x-ray, truly experience blending colors by layering colored discs, and watch their building come to life with translucent colored blocks. Shadows, glowing, reflections, and rainbows are just a few of the ways our students’ education will be enriched with a light table.
