I teach 6th grade English at a very progressive enterprise school in the heart of Oklahoma City. My students come from hard working families who have recently immigrated to the United States for a better life. Their children enter school not knowing English. Some catch on quickly, while others struggle with a new language and the demands of school. I am fortunate to have strong family support, but the one thing they don't have is money. So with recent budget cuts and students need of supplies and books, I feel morally obligated to leave no stone left unturned to help make their education as fulfilling as humanly possible. My sixth grade uses the Summit Learning Academy platform. The approach here is to use personalized learning for each student to set their own pace and goals and take command of their learning intrinsically. They are on the cutting edge of personalized learning.
