Teaching is my passion! I love the kids, the community, and the parents. What I don't love so much is that my students don't have the same access to education as the students on the "other side of town", or "up on the hill." We are a very low income school with a high transient population. The students are moving a lot, or perhaps taking care of younger siblings while their single parent works two jobs. This is just the reality. Our students our so resilient, but the stress takes a toll on their little minds and hearts. We are learning how to deal with our emotions, like when the people in our lives disappoint us. These students have so much on their minds, education seems to fall to the back burner. I am committed to teaching them these tough life skills, in addition to teaching them reading, math and so many other lessons. We can't always do this alone- Thank goodness for the generosity of our donors.
