We live in a world that is all about technology. It is truly amazing all the things an educator can do with technology to make their students' learning more rewarding. I learn about a new game, software, electronic device weekly if not daily and I have tried to offer everything I can to my students. However, I'm ready to offer them more. I'm ready to offer them something they can't get at home. Think back to when most of us were in school; we didn't have an 'app for that' when we were learning how to read, write, do math, or anything else in our years of learning; and guess what, we still succeeded. I'm ready to bring some of the things I did in school back into action so that I can reach every type of child in multiple ways! I want to give my students a different, more hands on experience in retelling stories. In kindergarten, one of our main literacy goals is retelling. This is one of those things that I haven't found the perfect technological tool to assist us. Like I said though, I'm ready to bring back those tried and true strategies from the past. I would like to set up a felt board in my room for students to use during our retelling. These purchases will include the felt board and felt letters to facilitate us during our beginning alphabet study. It would also include common stories and the character components so that my students can retell those stories as well.
