The alphabet tubs and manipulatives will bring the alphabet to life! My students will be able to relate real life objects such as animals, food and nature to the letters of the alphabet. They will sort the objects into the matching tubs with the same beginning sound. This helps their phonemic awareness by hearing the beginning sound of words and also helps with letter recognition. The hands on objects are a creative and fun way for my students to learn the beginning steps of reading! Once this skill is mastered, my students can then move on to hearing multiple sounds in 3 letter words which is a big step towards decoding and reading words.
