This project will allow me to emulate a classroom schedule as much as possible for my little learners by providing many modalities for learning foundation skills such as letters, sounds, numbers, and handwriting. After my group lessons, the students will go to centers at home with the materials provided in these at-home kits. For example, following a handwriting lesson, they could choose to use the dry erase tracing book, rainbow write their letters or sight words in crayons or markers, or use their writing journal to print words and draw pictures. This project would provide materials that my students would normally have access to in the classroom. I'd like to organize it all into a tub that parents can easily take out and put away each school day. Children need hands on materials to encode short-term learning experiences into long-term knowledge. Additionally, I added a Dewey document camera to film live, interactive lessons where students can watch my model, receive guided practice from me, and I can provide corrective feedback in the moment to ensure good habits are formed from the start!
