The tables in my classroom have been in the school system longer that I have, and I'm getting ready to start my 24th year of teaching! They were in my first classroom when I arrived as a brand new teacher, and they are still with me today. They have sentimental value, but they have been glued and taped and screws have been replaced, and they are falling apart. I can no longer repair them. My district can't provide new ones. Comfortable seating is a basic need for learner success. My classroom is dynamic. My classroom environment is something I establish from the first day we come together in August. We are engaged, cooperative, involved in discussions, and so busy, and my students need a comfortable place to learn. I believe in collaboration, and I need furniture that will support that. The tables I have chosen are so versatile for everything from independent work to Socratic seminars.
