It is my feeling that you can't start STEM play early enough: Young children are natural-born scientists and engineers who need to be exposed and encouraged as early as possible. Concepts at the heart of STEM—curiosity, creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking—are a demand. They also happen to be innate in young children and will never be explored in such a way as it is in Pre-K. Through STEM play children create structures that fit in their community with the Design & Build Engineering Centers and Waterway Pipe Builders. They practice gross and fine motor skills by carrying large, heavy blocks and balancing smaller blocks on top of each other, and they explore different shapes and sizes of blocks and materials. They can do this with the Block Play Kit and Blocks & Blueprints Center. The enthusiasm children have at an early age continues to make them choose to spend more and more time interacting in STEM Play.
