I am building an elementary art program from the ground up! I will be teaching grades K-6, which includes about 700 students, by delivering "art-on-a-cart". This camera will allow their artwork to be documented, and the printer will allow for sharp presentation of their work and projects. Additionally, the camera and printer will facilitate student projects like self portraits, make great yearbook photos of art class, and allow for beginning photography instruction. Many students at our school either move frequently or share small living spaces with large numbers of people; our school also includes the largest homeless encampment in Hawaii, and possibly the USA. I know from teaching English this past year that when students made integrated art/literature projects, many did not want to bring their excellent work home...they knew it would not go on a fridge or wall, it would only be lost or discarded. Digital copies of their work and quality photo prints are ideal for remembering and displaying their work. These tools will increase student's self-respect, self-expression, and self-confidence.
