At the moment, my classroom has scratchy carpet and hard plastic chairs for the students to sit on all day. The colorful rug will allow my class to sit comfortably on the floor during whole group lessons and will give each child their own designated space, without crowding into someone else's space. This is helpful since the students don't yet understand the need for personal space. The floor cushions will give students a comfortable, private spot when reading independently and working in stations on the floor. The wobble seats will allow wiggly students to sit at their table and complete their work while being allowed to fidget as needed while sitting at the table. When the students are comfortable, they are able to stay on task and learn.
