Using this technology in the classroom, students would be simultaneously exercising while working and performing a science lab or discussing a science concept. As a health science lesson, students graph resting and working heart rates. This lesson can apply to how the circulatory system properly functions with the heart as a working muscle and how it strengthens over time. In order to facilitate optimum learning in the classroom, a healthy mind and a healthy body needs to be present. As a science teacher who facilitates various student populations, the bike desk will provide the motor skills to prepare my students to sit quietly and listen or complete independent science work. This piece of equipment will not directly teach my students new skills, but they will help engage my students for learning in the science content area.
