The seventh and eighth grade students will read Hidden Figures the classroom addition in Science class. Both seventh and eighth grade science standards include studying Earth and space. Our school theme this year is movies, my classroom theme I chose the movie/book Hidden Figures. I read the book over the summer and knew I wanted my seventh and eighth graders to read this book for Science. The book has some very important mind growth messages, such as focusing on what we can control vs what we can’t, and always do your best work. At our school we focus on Character traits each month, character activities, and PBIS (positive behavioral Intervention and Supports). Hidden figures will be a nice tie in for both science and our character traits.
