Starting children with a love of reading at an early age is an essential part of their future education. My children love to have books read to them. By providing my children with interactive books and story telling props, they will be able to understand that the text is meaningful and can be read. My project objective for language and literacy is to help my children develop a love for reading at a young age. This will help to develop language skills to encourage success in their future education. The interactive books and story telling props would allow the children to explore and learn how to manipulate the books correctly. This will also help build their fine motor skills. The books will benefit the child by teaching them about communication. They also introduce concepts such as numbers, letters, colors and shapes in a fun way. The children will develop listening, memory and vocabulary skills when using the books. Reading to children helps develop a rich network of vocabulary for children. It also invites children to look, point, touch, and answer questions which will promote social development and thinking skills.
