The items requested will be used with students who struggle with sensory input. Students with sensory integration struggle to control their sensory input and find it difficult to focus and regulate their emotions. They become overwhelmed easily and struggle to be successful without the proper sensory tools. Often, these overwhelming moments can turn into outbursts within their classroom, causing a disruption to all students in the classroom and a poor experience for the student with sensory needs. With these new sensory tools, students who need a break can go and get the sensory input they need without distracting students within their classroom. Our school currently serves children with multiple sensory processing issues, including ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) and ADD/ADHD but does not have the environment to properly meet their sensory needs. The tools in our new sensory room will provide students with a break from the sensory chaos of a classroom, playground, and hallway and help them focus. The requested materials include ball seats and wobble seats which allow children to get the needed sensory input and movement while still being integrated with their peers in the classroom. The remaining materials include a rocker/glider, bean bag chair, foam rocker, tent, noise machine, light machine, fidgets, play-doh, and foam flooring for use in a sensory room. The items requested are a variety of sensory tools to stimulate children with auditory, visual, and touch sensory needs. Children will utilize this sensory room with teachers and professionals trained in sensory needs to help them calm themselves and refocus. We want all our students to do their best and be successful. Thank you for supporting our students!
