We are a lighthouse classroom that is implementing blended learning. Blended learning encourages students to learn at their own pace. The classroom environment plays a huge part of making blended learning successful. Therefore, I have been redesigning the classroom. My students currently have pillows, bean bag chairs and other forms of flexible seating, but we do not have a carpet that students can stretch out and read on or use for projects. Due to fire codes, I cannot just go purchase any rug. We need one that is fire resistant. The rug area is an important central gathering place where students can collaborate and create with one another.
