My students are encouraged to make their own decisions when working in our classroom. Each lesson begins with a mini-lesson followed by independent or partner work around the room. If my project is funded, the students will use the clipboards as their work surface as they write, read, and do math around the room. The pillows will be used to create comfortable, definable spaces for individuals and partners to work. This project will support my learners by providing them with definable, comfortable work spaces. When students are empowered to make their own choices when learning, I believe they are more successful. I also believe, if students are comfortable they are willing to take more risks and give more in the classroom.
